The Canon 1.4 is at least as good as the 1.4 Minolta MD, I think the 85 1.8 is better than either of the Minolta MF 85's. If you don't need the speed of the Tamron, you'll like the Canon 24-85mm. Most people like the results from the 28-135mm as well.
