I just love tweaking the heck out of a RAW image and ending up with a full and
smooth histogram. One minor tweak of a JPG in Photoshop and the histogram's all
broken up.

But the main reason I shoot RAW is because I hate frigging with the camera when
I'm shooting. I shoot everything at daylight white balance and I don't worry
about colour space, contrast, or saturation. I've got enough to do when shooting
to get the exposure, focusing, and DOF, etc.

I also like storing RAW files vs. JPG plus TIF or PSD files. I'm not so sure
shooting JPG saves any space, considering the huge TIF file that is created when
saving from Photoshop. But I can go back and create that huge TIF directly from
Capture One at a later date, and all my tweaks are done with it.

One thing I hate about shooting JPG is high contrast. Shooting outdoors on a
sunny day JPG just sucks the big one, sorry. Highlights done, shadows just
black, and no way to get any of them back or adjust the contrast down without
really losing in quality.

When I shoot RAW I know I'm covered. I will still bracket my exposures if
needed, but I can concentrate more on shooting instead of setting up the camera
and making adjustments.

For a month or two when I first got my laptop and couldn't load up Capture One,
I shot JPG. I found a really big difference in quality. Several shots that could
have been great shots were just ruined. I was so glad to get back to RAW again.
