If you still have either 10D or 20D, you could check/verify/compare
in multiple ways....;))
One procedure would be to put both camera's on a tripod, put the lens
on either camera, let it perform AF, take picture, then dismount
lens, and put it onto the other camera, and take second picture.
Btw, wasn't the 17-40 designed in the days of the 1Ds?
Meaning that it most likely was meant for FF sensors in the first
place....
