Mike, 02/100: Even if one shoots wide open, there may be situations where a smaller aperture or the longer focal length may result in slower shutter/amplified vibrations etc. Hence it makes sense (in general) to go in with IS esp. for longer lenses. Whether the cost overhead is justified or not is subjective and only you can decide what works in your case based on how you shoot. The alternative is to ensure "tripod-ing" in those extenuating circumstances. FWIW, I have the F4 non IS cousin and I try to avoid longer focal lengths/slow shutter unless the rig is on the tripod. I wish this one had IS *sigh* Hope that helps, - Harman __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
