Actually, Canon doesn't make a 55-200 EF-S. It is an EF lens. They first made it for APS film SLRs but it actually covers full-frame. I personally don't have one but it sounds like a very useful focal range on FF to me. Of course, if he ever goes full frame he is likely to be unsatisfied by the quality of this lens.
