I would trust the result. This confirms the results of a friend of mine who did testing with a collimator on a number of filters to measure their distortion. Tiffen filters did not fair so well, as did most. Even some of the higher end B+W were not so good. Hoya HMC seemed to be the most consistently good, but it could have been just a random coincidence. Price was not a correlation. All sales people have always told me to buy a UV filter and then they give me this disdained your-an-idiot look when I say no way.
