I believe it is optimized for digital because of the coatings. A digital
sensor is very reflective compared to film, so digital cameras
are very sensitive to reflection in the lenses. This was one
of the problems with the new 24-105/4 lens, because there
was one place in the lens that was not painted black, hence
caused some flair.

As far as I know the only thing new with the Hoya Digital
filters is a more optimized anti-reflective coating. How
real or hyped this is I don't know, it may be the same as
the Super-HMC version.
