I was shooting around tide pools today, and despite what I thought
was pretty careful focusing, photos of sea urchins under the surface
of the water were out of focus. Does AF get fooled by the
intervening water surface? Is there a trick? I don't think I've
tried this before. There are no visible water reflections in the
photos that the AF could have grabbed, the water was very still and clear.
