I used to live on the ast coat and used to shoot around the shores quite a
bit I found a good polarizer will help when shooting through the surface of
water.

If you focused manually, you should get what you see in the
viewfinder. However, with AF I think the results would be more random
and the AF system could easily get fooled. It doesn't take much
movement of the water to create enough contrast for the AF to catch
onto it.
