By definition, RAW files are unprocessed. So what would it mean
to shoot in Pic-mode? You can still shoot in automatic mode, but
you interpret the RAW files after the fact. The Pic modes are
processing options, raw is unprocessed.

The Pic modes use different exposure programs...the sports mode favors
high shutter speeds, the landscape mode favors greater depth of field,
etc. I believe the only Pic mode that is identical (from an exposure
program perspective) to one of the "creative" modes is the green box,
which corresponds to P.

There are also other settings which are hard-coded into the fixed
modes - focus mode, transport mode, etc.

This is based on my experience with Elan II and 20D bodies...I believe
this to apply to Rebel XT as well.

This (non-RAW availability in PIC modes) is also one of the main
reasons I never use them...the green rectangle should be a red octogon
as far as I'm concerned! ;-)

I normally have one-shot focus set, with the * button used for
focusing, but it would be nice to occasionally switch to sports mode
to change to AI (or is it AI-servo?) and shutter-release focus for a
quick couple shots and back...instead, I have to go to the CF menu to
move the focus button and change the focus mode manually...such a
pain...well, not too bad, but it could be easier. Luckily I don't do
that enough for it to be a real problem.
