I have the Tamron 1.4X TC that works fine with my 70-200 f/2.8L and 300 f/4 L on both my 10D and 20D bodies. FWIW, a friend recently upgraded from the Digital Rebel (not sure which model) to the 20D because her Rebel completely stopped autofocusing, regardless of which lens she was using.
