Hello all -

I hope that everyone on the list had a nice holiday, and for those of
you who believe in Santa, I hope he brought you lots of great Canon
gear. :-) Santa gave me an IOU for the lens I've had my eye on, and
although I have the go-ahead to buy it new, since it's my money too, I
am hoping to save a bit by buying a second-hand version.

So... has anyone on the list had any experience buying a lens
refurbished by Canon, and any experience -- good or bad -- to share?

Thanks,

Pattie

Hi Pattie,

Santa brought me a Huey......

I have two experiences with Canon refurbed lenses. One is second hand, a friend bought a couple of things, a 10D and some leneses, from B&H that were "used" and rated condition 10. He found out that when B&H rates a used Canon product, lens or body, a 10 is is either a store sample or a Canon salesperson's sample. In either case Canon goes over them and they are like new but can't be sold as new. My friend is very happy with the items and told me about the ratings, etc.....

The other is my experience. I bought my 28-135 IS from B&H as used and condition 10. It came in a Canon box that was marked used. The lens was like new and has worked flawlessly since I bought it a few years ago. The cost savings was pretty good too.

If I saw a lens or body that I was eyeing , and it was on B&H's used list at condition 10, I would not hesitate to order it.

Bob
