Hi Malcolm,

Just found out that my EOS-1D Mk II has made 25.513 shots. To check, just go
to http://www.takenet.or.jp/~ryuuji/minisoft/exifread/english/ , download
the latest EXIF-reader (2003 version) and open your latest shot (must be a
JPG straight from the camera).

Using that program, you will see a line that starts: Unknown (0093)3,9:
18,Y,XXXXX,0,0,0,65535,65535,0

The number in the Y spot is either a 1 or 0. If it's a 0, then your
actuations are the following XXXXX number. If the Y spot is something other
than a 0, multiply it by 65535 and add it to the XXXXX number. The Y spot is
a roll over ounter.

This is good stuff to know when you want to buy a used EOS-1 !

Cheers,
Iwan

I believe it's only available for the pro 1D series. I think it's only this
range for which Canon mention an expected frame count in their marketing.
And, I don't think it's a <specification > feature.
