Rumors are easy to start. I was in Canada for a work related class and
during a break I heard someone in the lunchroom comment, "If you don't
hear a good rumour by 0930, start your own....."
Today all you have to do is write, "I heard somewhere that ....." Or,
"I read somewhere that.....". Or it would be nice if ABC Company would
bring out .....". And it becomes fact that ABC Company is introducing a
new SUPER FLAMISTAT!
Another way is to post a series of true facts related to any subject and
watch. Some years ago Bobby Rahal was looking for a driver for his CART
Team. Bobby prferred a driver from North America. David Letterman is
part owner of Rahal - Letterman Racing.
I put true facts together, Bobby wnats a North American Driver, Jacques
Villenueve, is North American - Canadian, and was a guest on Letterman's
show the next night. When I posted these facts together on the CART
newsgroup it wasn't long before Jacques was
Rahal - Letterman's new driver. I really thought Jacques was the new
guy. I don't remember who the new driver turned out to be, but it
wasn't Jacques!
