Bill, He's wrong. If the computer can read the formatted card from the camera, it has to work the other way around. The real issue is to make sure on some systems you do not use the incorrect format type (i.e. NTFS, etc.). That is why they say it is best to format in the camera. As to deleting pics, well again he is telling you a wives tale. If you delete then the area where the image was stored will be made available again for another image or partial. A lot if this info comes from people like the reps who heard someone say it and they simply repeat it without any understanding as to why.
