So who gets to decide how people SHOULD think?
People can decide that for themselves.
Propagandists do not accept that.
By the way, the dominant ideology in US government-run schools is far
left liberalism.

We have in the USA, millions upon millions of people who do no work of
any sort, but
receive government funds.
In addition, there are 10-20 million illegal aliens who do work, but
pay no taxes,
and consume social services on a scale that has, for example,
bankrupted hospitals, overcrowded our
schools, and filled our prisons with thousands of violent felons.
Thousands of American citizens have been robbed, raped, and even
murdered, by these miscreants.

Greece is simply the tip of the iceberg.
What makes Greece more noticeable is the riots.
Thousands of Greeks are demanding that their exorbidant subsidies
continue.
They are utterly disinterested in the facts.
And the facts are that such profligacy on the part of government must
ultimately end in ruin and collapse.
The Titanic is sinking, and the passengers are demanding better room
service.

You have it utterly backwards. Republican lawmakers constatntly
sounded the warnings of impending collapse of the mortgage market.
But the Democrats were the majority in congress.
The banks were commanded by the senate and House to stop
discriminating against poor people.
Chris Dodd and Barney Frank (liberal democrats) led the charge.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were the two quasi-government entities
that
saturated the market with mortgages, all with government-backed
guarantees to the banks.
The quasi-government administrators of these fatal loans made tens of
millions of dollars in commission,
and then quietly dropped out of the picture when the market collapsed.
Bush's sin was to bail out these worthless loans, and to expand
government spending
to the point of bankruptcy. Obama has carried on the tradition in an
enhanced fashion.
