Daniel: Yes, OsgScaleViewer requires at least 2.9.6 if I'm correct, and that's a developer release. But I think it wouldn't make sense to port it back to 2.8.x, since 2.9.x becomes sometime in the near future 3.0, so it's just a matter of time and it again will work on Ubuntu and other systems out-of-the-box. Regarding the "checkout and go" policy, I agree. But moving it to another project wouldn't make much sense since it's highly dependent on the Equalizer SVN... But there's the option to manually enable OsgScaleViewer in CMake, that looks like a nice solution to me...
