Glen, I too had polio as a child, and have a set of hand controls for use in Cessna's. Contact Mike Smith, at the International Wheelchair Aviators, located in Big Bear CA. I'm sure he would be very happy to help you as best he can. IWA: http://www.wheelchairaviators.org/index.html The only other pedal-less airplane that I am aware was the Skyfarer. In fact it had no rudders at all. It was a high-wing, 2 place trike, with twin vertical stabs (like the Ercoupe). There weren't a lot of them made, and only a couple still flying I believe. I don't know if the list will allow attachments, but I have some photos, and a short article on the Skyfarer, if anyone is interested. Email me directly and I'll email them back to you. Mike Dean [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Gang I am training my friend from elementary school, now a 48 year old doctor, how to fly. We are using my Ercoupe as he had polio as a child and has limited use of his legs. Additionally, I have provided my Coupe to the Daytona Beach, Florida chapter of the EAA so they can teach a 16 year old boy with Spina Bifida to fly. CBS news has decided to do a story on my Coupe and the two student pilots. They will film it early April. The producer asked me if I know of any other disabled pilots that fly Coupes. I don't, but I told him I would put the query out on the Ercoupe email list. So, any of you flying Coupes (without rudder pedals) because you have a physical handicap or know someone else who does? They also asked me if there were any other pedalless airplanes with a aileron/rudder direct connection like the Coupe. I said I don't know of any but, again, I would put the question out to the Ercoupe users group. I believe some Bonanzas have a partial connection between the ailerons and the rudders but they certainly do have pedals. <<Lynn...am I right on this one?>> I'll let you all know when the piece will air.
