The escort II is a good set...but maybe you are trying to transmit on the
nav chanel...which is allowed..... the face of the radio has two
switches....Mode switch Nav or Com push button; And
a freq selection lever, so one can easily switch from nav freq to com freq...
Perhaps the problem is as simple that the switch is set
improperly ???
As the "T" shows up on the set face, this indicates you are activating the
transmitter...
I have enjoyed mine for about 15 years....
