Tim, Yep, that's the one about which I'd heard it was originally approved, but the approval was withdrawn. I don't have any direct knowledge - just hearsay. I've heard good and bad about it - mostly that it doesn't work particularly well in either the climb or cruise regime.... What do you think? Dan, You might explore the non-TSOed props being sold to the experimental community. There are some electrically in-air-adjustable props on the market. Naturally, you'd have to get the FAA to sign off on it. There was a fellow at the Jacksonville, IL, national a few years ago with such a prop - three bladed, I think. I think he said he was in the temporary experimental class during testing of the new prop and then would revert to standard airworthiness when testing was successfully completed. Maybe constant speed are available, too. _____________________ The old constant speed prop originally approved for the Coupe had its approval rescinded later, I heard. Also, folk wisdom is that your gain with a constant speed prop isn't worth the cost and weight for such low powered planes as ours. Perhaps one of the new, lighter, electrically adjustable ones would be worth while.
