When doing "sport pilot" paperwork, I've found most people (Flight Schools, CFIs, even the FAA District office) wondering and looking around to figure out what to do. It's that new. However, I think the examiners for Sport Pilot have to be specifically certified for Sport Pilot. There are few of them around, and when the time comes, my examiner will know what to do. I 'm almost certain my certificate will be restricted to 2 control airplanes. That should be fine with me, since I plan to keep the Ercoupe long term (the Good Lord willing). I may want to learn and fly 3 control sport compliant taildraggers later, since there seem to be plenty of old ones affordable for me to buy. It seems that there are few sport compliant, 3 control, tricycle planes, other than new, and I can't afford any new plane at all.
