Hey Scott: I say GO FOR IT! I flew my then 10 year old grandson over 9000 miles around the country in 2000 in 45 days. We had only one delay due to weather (rain in Springfield MO) during our entire trip.
We always left early (normally just as the sun came up) and were through flying by or before noon. The one day we tried to fly an extra leg (across west Texas) it got too bumpy  and rough so we stopped and spent the afternoon at the pool.
The advice you have already been given is good. The Coupe is a good cross country airplane as long as you plan ahead and give it time to climb over those big bumps ( read as mountains). By following the roads, you can usually find the easy way through the passes, and have an emergency landing spot (just in case).
I just returned from a 2300 mile trip in the car over the last 3 days and was wishing I was in the Coupe all the way. (I had to pull a trailer so I really had no choice) Those 14 and 16 hour days on the road were terrible compared to a comfortable 6 or even 7 1/2 hours in the Coupe. The traffic is getting to the point where I even hate to consider driving any distance.
Make certain you are not pressed for time, so you do not "Have to Go" and try to plan an alternate route in case the weather turns sour.
