As a lawyer who's been at it for over 35 years, and as an aviator who's been at that for over 40 years, the number of squirrels, cheats, downright liars, and other questionable folks in the aviation industry has always amazed me. Used car dealers and lawyers are nothing compared to some of our fellow aviators. Be sure and order the aircraft records from the FAA for any aircraft that you are thinking of buying. I've searching for an LSA 'coupe for some months and recently found what looked like a nice one. The owner assured me that it was a C model and even had a bill of sale that showed it as a C. However, when I got the 337s from the FAA, it showed that it had been converted to a D 5 years ago. When I notified the owner, he was very upset. He indicated that he had been "lied to" by the person who sold him the airplane. In the course of our conversation, he explained that what he meant was that the seller had indicated that he had made the conversion but had not and would not file the 337! The FAA records turned out to be the best $10 I have spent lately. Be careful when you buy!
