Jim,

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but . . .

LSA has nothing to do with night flight. That's a "flying under Sport Pilot
privileges" issue.

If you hold a PP and 3rd class medical, then you ARE legal for night flight
in any plane legal for night flight ---- as long as you are solo or have the
necessary logged three takeoffs and landings to a full stop in the last xx
days.

If you have no 3rd class medical, then you must be on the ground before the
end of civil twilight (not by sunset) as the Sport Pilot regulation
specifies "night' not "sunset." It's nice that the regs specify that
"night" doesn't start till the end of civil twilight.

(Note that from sunset till the end of civil twilight, you still MUST have
appropriate aircraft lighting.)

There are some SLSA aircraft which have operating limits specifying no night
flight. But that doesn't apply to Coupes.
