I agree that it would be nice. I think the FAA addressed it already, though. "The FAA disagrees." They'll point out, quite rightly, that night flight approaches and uses some of the skills of IFR and there's already an appropriate certification for that type of flight: Private Pilot. I don't really mean to be a discourager. But I do like to see effort pushed where the weak spots are, not the armor plate. If you want to address night flight under SP, the EAA would be the big stick to use. They've probably got thousands of "Private Pilots flying under privileges of Sport Pilot" to join you, not to mention a thousand actual Sport Pilots. Ed
