Jack::

That's probably because all the other airplanes on the field have Nitrogen filled struts for nose wheel dampers, while your Aircoupe has a hydraulic type shock absorber for a nose wheel strut.  Two different animals.

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Nose Wheel Movement

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

If I raise the nose wheel of N5466F ( '67 Alon A2A ) off the ground and exert pressure side to side, how much movement is tolerable? I get about 1/8th of an inch of movement. In addition to being able to feel the movement , I can see the felt grease seal flexing with the movement.Nothing is evident when I operate the airplane ( no shimmy, etc), but the guy who operates the tow-bar tractor at my airport tells me there is more play in my nose wheel than there is on the other planes at the field,

which all seem to be tight as a drum when he tows them around. Thanks to all of you.
