Bob; I guess we need to know what service bulletins have been complied with on your Alon. I believe there have been at least 3 bulletins concerning fuel system modifications to the Alon. I do not have a copy of service bulletin # 8, but # 16 says that "In some instances, fuel has been observed flowing during flight from the vented fuel-filler caps. To preclude these condition, accomplish Instruction I and II."
Originally, the Alon had thermos bottle style wing tank fuel caps. Apparently service bulletin # 8 put vented caps on, and then # 16 removed them. Service bulletin # 19 moved the gascolator up on the firewall, but I do not believe it made any changes to the fuel tank filler caps.
One Alon I worked on had a problem with the fuel venting out of the wing filler caps, and I replaced the vented caps with the thermos style, non vented caps. That seems to have stopped the problem.
The Alon has a vent in the fuselage filler cap, a vent out the bottom of the fuselage from the fuselage tank, and a fuselage tank drain line which comes out the bottom of the fuselage also.
Does your Alon seem to have all these lines Bob?
