My Alon has non-vented, clamp-on style fuel caps on the wings, and a
vented screw-on cap on the header tank.

I've been thinking of switching to vented caps on the wings, because
often, during the large temperature swings we experience in California's
Central Valley from day to night (30-35 deg F), fuel spills from the
header tank vent and makes a mess. The wing tanks become pressurized
and push fuel into the header tank. When I release the clamps on the
wing tanks, a hiss of air can be heard and the aluminum tank oil-canning
as the pressure is released.
