----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Well, good luck finding the fittings for the gear mounted
variety if you don't have it in hand already. :-)

If you do put them on the gear, mount the filaments vertical or
pay the price in dead bulbs. Also, use the Q-series quartz
bulbs. They are much nicer.

I have two gear mounted lights and really like them. Even
with the shades, they do illuminate the back of the prop a
bit (you'll want it black). But they also light up the part of
the runway where you're looking to land. They are switched
and breakered separately, left/right, and that's the way I'd
always want them. First, they are a big drain, second, a
short doesn't take out both.

They're easy to change down there.

They also make more drag than the wing-mounted type. Those
deflectors are air-scoops, probably worth one hand sticking out
on each side of the plane.

Still, they give the plane a funky, vintage appearance.

All in all, the wing-mounted solution is probably more
practical, but I sure like my 'bright legs.'

Any body have any thoughts on gear mounted lights as opposed to wing mounted lights, my coupe has no lights and I can go either way.  Just looking for opinions.
