Hi John,
I still can't explain how it works, but it does now. It is definitely
not between the battery and the buss, because if I pulled the breaker,
it would kill the power to the lights, radios, etc, which doesn't
happen. Possible when the power is pulled back, the current spikes when
if flows back to the voltage regulator before it opens the circuit to
protect the generator and the load is taken up by the battery, which by
then is putting out more voltage than the generator. If you check the
original wiring, there was a 30 amp fuse in the same location where I
replaced the original 10 amp breaker that was in the Coupe when I
imported it from Canada last year. This never showed up before I added
landing lights and increased the load.

Something still doesn't smell right. Why would it pop when the power
was
pulled back? generator output should drop when the power is pulled
back. Could
the breaker be between the battery and the buss instead of between the
generator and the buss?

John
