Bob, it may be corect that the wing tanks should not be vented.....but, they also should not spew fuel in flight.

First thing I would suggest is to assure that when flying straight and level, the "ball" is in the center. If not, you are skidding thru the air, causing un-equal pressures on the wings. The differential air pressures will cause venting of fuel.

This is most often caused by an improper rigging of the nose wheel position. If not straight when the aelirons trail the wing, then when flying straight the nose wheel acts like a rudder. Of course one can compensate, but the forces are still there.

On the ramp. align the aelirons with the wings; are the control wheels level?; are the rudders trailing the vertical stabilizer?; If not, re-rig the airplane to specificartions.

if control rigging is correct, then carefully pull the Alon straight forward by the prop..((be Careful/make sure the switches are off, and don't turn the prop), for about 10 -15 feet. Now, are the aelirons still lined up with the wing  ??

If not, rig the push rod to the nose wheel so it is straight...and try again, etc, till you have it right.

Then go flying...the Alon should fly straight and level at 105 or so...hands off, ball in center.

You may have to slightly adjust the rod again after flying  ---if the ball is slightly off center..

Now you have a great fl;ying Alon.. (Ercoupe)..
