Roger,
With a C-85, here are the general Ercoupe prop groups
7152 – “cruise” prop (may not develop full cruise rpm and climb may
stink with higher aircraft gross weights because you may not have enough power
to turn the engine to rpm)
7150 – normal prop giving about 108 mph at 2400 rpm
7148 – normal climb prop giving improved climb and about 104 mph at 2400
rpm
7146 – my extreme climb prop (2250 static rpm – max allowed) better
climb but only 100 mph at 2400 rpm
Check back in a hour and I’ll have more information posted that I just
found.

C85
Thanks Ed. Those are the numbers I
had assumed to be correct. However, in one of the logs someone had noted
a lower number. I think it must have related to the engine when it was a
75. This engine has a high end cruise prop on it and 2300 seems to be
about a comfortable cruise setting for it. It won't turn up to 2575 with
this prop. Roger

Roger,
When you convert your C-75 to a C-85, it IS a C-85. You’ll follow all C-85 specs.
Teledyne Continental Motors C-75, C-85, C-90, O-200 Overhaul Manual page 12 says C-85
Normal Rated RPM . . . . . . . 2575
I remember seeing somewhere, somewhen, in some document, something that said maximum continuous cruise rpm should be 2400. On the other hand, I had some experienced A&Ps tell me go ahead and run it, it’ll be happy. I had a climb prop and could get to about 2575 in cruise though I rarely tried that. I normally cruised at 2400 rpm.
