I just replaced the bushings in the mast and also in the linkages to my right aileron this last annual. You have to pull the floor plate up and I remember that there are some bolts at the base of the mast that are a small pain, but it wasn't impossible. Watch the header tank when you take out the mast so you don't punch a hole in it. It was a little better when it was put together. Oh yes, don't overtighten the bolts when you reassemble the elevator cables to the mast. That makes flying a bit difficult (to say the least) in that mothing moves! Make sure everything moves smoothly piece by piece as you reasemble it so you don't have to pull the deckplate up again! Any suggestions or comments about that condition? The control column was supposed to have been gone through and rebuilt about 10 or 12 years and 1200 hours ago. Are there other parts that are likely to be worn & in need of replacement other than those two bushings? Are there any 'tricks' to watch for when replacing the bushings in the control column, removing or re-installing the column, or checking the rigging & controls post repair?
