Hello Chip;
If you still have the standard system, the fuel pump transfers fuel from the wing tanks to the header tank where it is gravity fed to the carb. If your fuel pump is feeding the carb directly, then a too rich mixture is indeed very possible.  If you're suspecting ice, then carb heat should allow the engine to be smooth.  When you pull the carb heat cable it will enrichen the mix a bit.  If there's too much fuel being forced into the carb you may be able to cut it down by pulling the mixture cable, leaning it out.  But before I did anything else, I would check where that fuel pump is hooked up to.  If you have the Skyport fuel system, you should have the paperwork the mechanic used for the conversion.  If not, ask John for a diagram and make sure everything is in order.  Keep us posted.

Gentlemen I could sure use some help. I have a 46 415-C serial number 1157. I have had the plane about a month now and put about 8 HRS on it. I have been experiencing what I think is carb icing problems. I switch form a marvel to a rebuilt Stromberg because Buldoc informed me that the Marvel was the wrong one for the C-75. I have the same problem still going on. I am wondering if it may be due to the fuel pump they put on this plane. The original one engine driven has been replaced with a electric fuel pump. I have a light mounted on the panel that tells me when the pressure goes down. Could this be forcing to much pressure to the carb, instead of the gravity feed normally used. I was told to turn the pump on at start up and leave it on. I have been told by more than one A&P that it may not be icing at all, but to much fuel. Comments PLEASE.
