Hi Jim, The present lubricant of choice by most A&Ps for pulleys, hinges, etc. seems to be LPS2. It's in either aerosol spray cans or in bulk. I get it through Aircraft Spruce. However, I understand it's available from some auto supply stores and you don't have to then pay hazardeous shipping charges. They are MUCH stronger than Plexi. Per Drawing 415-53011 (for sidescreen), ERCO used .065 Vinylite, 19-3/4" (+-1/32") x 31-3/16" with a 1/8" radius on all corners. Hole (#27) centerlines were 5/16" along the (short) edge. .060 Plexiglas is the closest to original available. Use it also for your rear windows. Thicker material back there, if not heat formed in advance, will make the aluminum skin "pucker" between screws and cap nuts . In the south, we need to reduce our solar heat load. Because rear windows bend in installation, interior film tints (which are more uniform) must go on AFTER the windows are in (unless windows are heat formed in advance). I like gold or aluminum "mirror" film of high heat and light reflectivity. I also like a piece across the inside top of a flat windscreen, and on an overhead Plexi./Lexan sunscreen (third sliding panel). The latter application, where the plexi runs in channels and must flex as it slides, requires special film cutting and installation procedures and considerations. I use 2" strips applied fore-aft with a 3/32" overlap on each side and cut back clear of the vinyl slide channels, and install while still wet. I caution against such use at the top of the original (2 panel) sliding sidescreens. Certain sun positions with these panels partially open will seriously reduce side visibility. Regards, William R.
