Just a few observations and a note to admit sympathy with the position of Mr. Bayne that the parts suppliers are often usurpers. First, maybe we should cover the hole on the Alon A-2 s/n A-155 wing-tank cap (or replace it), but then there's SB no. 16 superseding SB no. 8. SB 16 says to pull the header tank and install SB 16-25 fuel return and overboard vent assembly. You have to cut a big hole in the tank and modify the fuel filler neck to accomplish this feat. This we want to avoid doing. So we'll try sealing the filler ports to the wing tanks first. As for the fuel pump, on the Alon with C90-16F engine, part numbers (per Aero Accessories, who apparently has a wholesaler monopoly) are AC 6861 (rebuilt) and AF 61391 (new). Owner went over my head and bought one from ATI, after I gave him a price of $362 from our friend on the mail list. ACS didn't have a rebuilt unit, promised to call back if they found one, but didn't call. We'll see if the leak persists after plugging the hole on the one holey wing-tank cap. But then, of course, the only venting we'll have will be on the header tank, which also has a holey cap which does NOT seep. I have an old '46 Taylorcraft --- been in family since the 80's. Both wing tanks are pressurized with filler cap ram-air tubes in the slipstream. If you don't have this positive ram-air pressure( which CAN happen if a bug gets into the tube), you won't get the wing tank to release its precious liquid into the header tank from which the carburetor receives its nourishment. So I'm a little concerned about the adequacy of venting the Aircoupe's fuel system by the header tank filler cap only. If any person can help out here, we'd appreciate it. Thanks to everyone for helping us. I've learned a bunch. And it's like family here. ============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers-tech/
