HI All, Perhaps a safety wire would be a solution for this at the very least it would prevent it from rotating out and falling out.Should be on our preflight checklist I would think  Dennis 99564 in Ill  how about those Chitown Sox  ?? I'm a cubs fan but wow this is OK too !!

A Coupe (415-C) at my airport had a scary thing happen last week. He taxied to the run-up area prior to take off and during his mag check the engine quit... After several attempts to restart he got out and found a large puddle of gas under the nose of his plane. After further investigation he noticed that the core of his gascolator quick drain was laying on the ground (Curtis type). The fuel loss was such that the carb was not getting enough gas to keep the engine running. The "O" ring or keeper was worn enough to allow it fall through the valve body. Luckily it happened prior to take off.
