What would be the typical oil consumption range of a C85-12 under these conditions:

@ 2200 RPM cruise
Why are you running it so slowly?  According to the D model POH, 2400 rpm is the bottom of the green arc.  Higher rpm gives you better lubrication, cooling and less chance of lead fouling of the valves and spark plugs, since the higher head temperatures keep the lead in solution rather than letting it form deposits.

I am only looking for a range of oil use that might be considered  'normal' for a mid- time
engine.
One quart in 4 to 6 hours should be typical.

I was dismayed to find out the 415E I own does not squeak into the new Sports plane category.
Is there such a thing as a ' variance ' (for lack of a better term)?
The gross weight of the Light Sport Aircraft is limited to 1320 lbs.  The gross weight of a 415E is 1400 lbs, so it does not qualify.  Sorry.
