I have no answer on 1).. but as for 2), sorry, there is no way to get your 415-E into the LSA category.  There is hope that the FAA will increase the gross weight, but I'm personally not holding my breath.

If they would bump it to 1450 lbs gross weight, that'd make us all happy.  I know the Cessna 150 owners are lobbying hard to get it raised to include them... but I wonder deep down if there isn't someone intentionally trying to block that.  Perhaps Cessna wanting to avoid lawsuits (people still try I guess), or LSA manufacturers who don't want a slew of older planes to compete against?

Gross  Models
====== ============
1260 - 415-C, 415-CD
1320 - Current LSA limit
1400 - 415-D, E, G, F-1
1450 - F-1A, A-2, M10

1500 - older C150's
1600 - newer C150's
1670 - C152's

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] Oil consumption

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

Hello -

1.

What would be the typical oil consumption range of a C85-12 under these conditions:

@ 2200 RPM cruise

@ touch and go's - a lot of full power climbing,

I am only looking for a range of oil use that might be considered  'normal' for a mid- time
engine.

2.

I was dismayed to find out the 415E I own does not squeak into the new Sports plane category.
Is there such a thing as a ' variance ' (for lack of a better term)?

Thanks again

Scott
