I tried John Savot's recommended NTSB website using "Ercoupe" instead of "Aircoupe" (which gave me "no records found"). They reported 91 fuel -related engine failure/crashes in the last 43 years. Only one was for an ALON; the rest were 415s and two Forneys. Obviously, these records are not complete, since we know there were some such ALON accidents in that period. The determined causes for these accidents vary all over the place, e.g., the ALON pilot "put 12 gallons in his tanks, flew 3 times, then had engine failure on his next flight"; another pilot had incorporated several non-STCd automobile fuel system mods which caused his fuel starvation; many involved water in tanks/lines/gascolator/carb; maintenance errors were common. It makes fascinating reading, but is not definitive.

Hello All,
_www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp_ (http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/query.asp) Check
this out. Add to form - Date 1/1/1962,
Make/Model - Ercoupe, String - fuel. I haven't had time to go through it
all,
however, it appears that there is an inordinate number of unexplained power
loses.
John
