Buck, you say "slight RPM drop."  Pulling the carb heat should cause about a 100 RPM drop.  What do you really get?

Thanks so much for such a prompt response.  Pulling carb heat causes a slight RPM drop... as it should.  Have not left it on for very long, however. 
 
Have also adjusted and re-adjusted the idle mixture knob numerous times, 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time.  It's been difficult to determine when adjusting whether it is loading up or leaning out.
 
Have all the printed technical data manuals for the carburator.

I'm guessing that you have an intake leak, allowing air to enter the intake system, causing your engine to run too lean.  What happens when you pull carb heat?

Have located a company who can  re-create the Ercoupe Logo seen on many cowlings.  Need to send him a JPEG or BMP file and the dimensions.
 
Also, am having difficulty getting my C-85 to idle smoothly below 800 rpm's.  The Stromberg carb was recently completely disassembled and re-built.
 
Your thoughts, please.
