Frank.
Seems like you are having Dzus fasteners on that
cowling.
Refit the fasteners with camlocks and you should be
a happy camper.
We did that on my brothers plane and getting the
cowling locked is just not a thing to talk about anymore.
Before closing the cowling was a piece of art,
closing the right ones first, so the rest would fit. I found myself swearing all
the time and had many names for the inventor of the Dzus fasteners. Love the
camlocks.
One other thing:
We recently discussed the recreation of the Ercoupe
Logo and that someone found a company willing to make some.
I remember that I bought new Logos from
Univair a few years ago - they call it name plates. Price was around 20-30 bucks
each.
I checked Univairs online catalog today again and
found this:
| Price Code | Part Number | Description | Price |
| 120 | -00011 | ercoupe rh nameplate | $39.34 |
| 120 | -00012 | ercoupe lh nameplate | $39.34 |
I am mentioning this to you guys just that you
are aware that Univair does have things avail. in an affordable range
- they just advertise so badly. If they would have a real world competition, the
company would be long deceased. However Faa-PMA and TSO and the other rules keep
these guys afloat without having to do much.

It has been a great little virtually trouble free fun bird.My only problem with it are the cowling buttons. It is one h.... of a job to get them properly locked in. On many occasions I have had to fly without all of them being firmly buckled. My mechanic has replaced a couple and tweaked the others several times, but the troubles keep coming back.He asked me to ask the group if any one knows of a good replacement or modification system to make the task of buttoning down the cowling an easier one.Thank youFrank Durgin99404============================================================================== To leave this forum go to: http://ercoupers.com/lists.htm Search the archives on http://escribe.com/aviation/coupers-tech/
