Eliacim.
If your Generator is not up to the job anymore and it is obvious that it is NOT only a failing brush, I strongly recommend to have the thing checked out by a Generator shop. Together with your regulator.

When I got me new engine a few years ago, it came with an overhauled Generator on it. That thing was all new brushes and bearings and what have it. It did make a hauling noise in the radio though and was overcharging the system. Long story short - I removed the generator and put on my old one that was still good. Only a generator shop would have found what's wrong with it. The IA replaced the regulator and that did change something but did fix it totally.

These things can by tricky . The money you spend here is wisely spend money.

Scott
You are right.
I know I can pull it out and have it refurbished by an outside shop, however,
I am tight on cash and long on courage.
I am a EE, experienced at DIY on my car, and have an AP IA willing to closely
supervise and document.
I am working on getting the right brushes and bearings. I've got some general
service bulletins on Delco Remy generators.

Has anybody in the forum refurbished their own generator before?
Is there a posted procedure I can follow?
Does anybody has any documentation on the 1101876 that can be shared?

Thanks

Quoting scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Eliacim -

Unless you have physical damage to the generator, you should be able to
completely refurbish it.

I have been tracking and isolating my electrical problems, previously
discussed in this forum.

Would anybody be willing to part with a WORKING Delco Remy 1101876
generator, (perhaps leftover from an alternator conversion)?
If so, please contact me off the forum, at

  Thanks
