This appears to be a fix that was improperly welded and the beads are
probably a result of incorrect welding rod or some other poor
practice.
One of the big price differences between sources for stacks is
stainless
or mild steel. If you are planning to keep the airplane and are
not
financially challenged go with the stainless otherwise mild steel is fine -
just won't last as long. "Repaired" stacks are just as good - I don't have
a
source right handy, but someone will be provide some before the day
is out. BTW do you know any of the guys at Stevens @ BNA?
