I am not an expert here, but my understanding is that if there is
stress corrosion in the rivet it will show up. I know ultrasound can
detect intergranular corrosion. Also, the SB specifically mentions
problems at the base of the shop heat, IIRC, which is a lot closer to
the probe than the other end of the rivet. Anyhow, I believe that
the ultrasonic inspection can detect these areas of concern. Anyone else?
