Thankfully, my "generator" problem turned out to be just a bad voltage
regulator. My choices are to buy a refurbished Delco 1118383 for $ 140 or to
upgrade to the Zeftronics G1120N for $ 200.
However, to install the Zeftronics I need a 337 & field approval.

How do I go about this?

Do I fill a 337 with the proposed change, hand carry it to the FAA FDO and
then wait, wait and wait, while legally grounded???

Does my A&P IA have to sign it?

Hello Eliacim,

The G1120N is PMA'ed for the replacement 1118383. The G1120N is a direct
replacement to the Delco PN: 1118383. However, the Ercoupe 415C is not
STC'ed or PMA'ed for the G1120N. To install the G1120N on the aircraft you
will need a 337 and field approval.

Is the Zeftronics G1120N STC'd to replace a Delco 1118383 on an Ercoupe
415C?
If not, how can this be legally done?
  Please let me know
  Thanks
