OK, OK, so I agree with you: $10,000 here and $10,000
there, and pretty soon it adds up to real money. But let's not panic:
Question #1: If after sixty years of service, we can
expect three or four corroded rivets in each of our ships...how many rivets
are there in the entire assembly? In other words, what
percentage of the total load bearing fasteners can we
assume, statistically, are affected?
Question #2: What are the legal requirement? No
corroded rivets in the assembly? A percentage of corroded rivents? OK, what’s
the percentage?
Just like in the Gooney Bird or the F14-A, a certain
amount of degradation can be tolerated. in our ships So what’s the
tolerance for an ERCO Ercoupe?

OK, so let's assume the worst, the center beam is
deemed unairworthy.
What are the options? I currently am thinking a $6000
beam from
Univair and $4000 to put it in the center section. How
far off am I?
