Darick, I don't know much more than you in regards to the header tank fuel gauge, however I removed the glass tube from my coupe and went back to the old tried and true wire and bobber. My only reason for doing this was the glass gauge had been broken and repaired a few times in it's past before I bought it and it became a constant problem. I think it is sticking up there saying, go ahead and hit me!! My favorite gas tank gauge is the one I have on my Starduster One. IT is a barrel gauge and only sticks up about 1.5 inches. the wire is a spiral with a cork at the bottom and as the fuel is burned off the cork turns the spiral shaft which in turn turns the card in the sight gauge. I would like to see something like that in a coupe. Food for thought. Dick L. 3041H, N35RL

Subject: [COUPERS-TECH] header tank indicator

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]----

Everyone,
My header tank just has the indicator wire coming out the top of the fuel cap and there are no markings on it.  I'd like a more exact way of determining fuel quantity. Two options, mark the wire with paint (? potential to flake off) or install the glass tube type if possible for this model - 415C s/n 1462.  Any suggestions which is the better way to go, or any other options?
Thanks, you are collectively the encyclopedia of Ercoupe knowledge!
Darick
