Richard- Yes, I'm another couper that found out that Black Oil & one qt. every one& a half hrs. was bad news. My coupe when I purchased it had less than 200hrs on overhaul with oil consumption problem which I lived with for over 650 hrs! Engine ran great! I finally decided to pull cyl's to fix an oil leak problem. I found every cyl had a stuck compression ring. One also had a broken ring! Cyl's required a lot of work cleaning out deposits. I sent one cyl out to have a exh guide replaced.New 100 octane valves on 3 cyl's, new pistons/rings all around. a friend gave me 4 low time serviceable piston pins(new type) rockers refaced & my " Kitchen Overhaul" was on it's way. Oh, I call it that because I did all measurements There & painted cyl's on back patio! 82 hrs on top now & no more black oil.
