The adapter weighs 1.2# and the filter 1.4#. these are actual, not
estimates. The filter holds roughly a pint, for an additional .7 or
.8#, so 3.5# is pretty close. The filter has a anti-backflow valve
in it which prevents the oil from draining back when the engine is shut off..
